At Naturally Iceland, through our subsideraries on Iceland we strive to develop sustainable and responsible tourism initiatives that help people connect with nature – experience nature – while we prove that nature-based tourism can coexist with and support conservation efforts.
THE NATURE CONNECTION
The term ‘connection to nature’ is frequently used to describe our enduring relationship with nature, including emotions, attitudes and behavior. Research shows that people with a greater connection to nature are more likely to behave positively towards the environment, wildlife and habitats. Developing an enduring relationship between people and nature, connecting people, is therefore critical for future nature conservation.
STRATEGY
We develop and manage small-scale hospitality solutions on prime locations in Iceland and actively extend or develop reforestation initiatives on our properties to enhance its natural surroundings and restore biodiversity in the area. Our solutions can be small, low-impact cabins (<45m2) or carefully designed buildings, blending in with nature using the principles of landscape architecture, biophilic design and sustainable building. We use biobased materials whenever possible and generate our own renewable energy to cover our (minimal) electric power needs at off-grid locations. Our sites may also have meeting & catering facilities for small groups to allow educational activities.
